Easter
To many people, Easter is the time when Jesus rose from the dead. To others it might be chocolate eggs and the Easter Bunny. Or it might make you think of Fluffy Chicks and new born Lambs.
But have you thought of what plants we associate with Easter? Crocus, Tulips, Daffodils?? The traditional Easter flower is actually a white Lily. Signifying peace, purity, rebirth, and new beginnings. This time of year is generally when we think that spring is starting, hence the association with the spring bulbs. But did you know, Daffodils symbolise resilience, and happiness and hope.
You can always create a little bit of the garden indoors this Easter. Why not cut a small branch from a tree or shrub in your garden and create your very own Easter tree? Ostereierbaum is a well-known German tradition of decorating trees with eggs. You can buy wooden eggs that are already decorated, or if you really want to get into the tradition, why not create your very own hollowed out eggs and decorate to your hearts content!
As many of you have heard, know or have been lucky enough to sample, Ellen is a super cake baker, so there is always a chance there may be some Simnel cake for our Saturday Potters and the staff at Easter. Simnel cakes were once associated with Mothering Sunday but now we associate them with Easter. A rich fruit cake with lots of marzipan and almonds steeped in mystery and intrigue as to its origins! All that talk of cake and eggs is making me hungry!
So if you manage to get a few hours this bank holiday weekend to look at our catalogue, why not make a list of plants you might like and send it over to us, we can then let you know what is available. https://www.prenplants.co.uk/catalogue/
Happy Easter to you all
