Day Lily – Hemerocallis
One of our ranges that have such an array of colours and names is the Hemerocallis, more commonly now as day lily. This year we have grown 12 variety’s from old favorites like Gentle Shepherd to new varieties like going bananas.
These are easy plants to grown and can give you long lasting colour as they are prolific flowerers. They can grow in any soil including clay. Their blooms only last for one day but they often have multiple blooms on each stem. Once established they can give an exotic like feel to any border.
Looking after them is easy, Dead head regularly to encourage repeat flowering. Cut back foliage in the autumn if its looks messy and divide about every 3 – 5 years to keep them healthy and it will also give you new plants.
Our favorites this year include:-
Autumn Red
A lovely red flowered variety with a yellow throat and a thin yellow stripe on the petals
Going Bananas
