Prenplants Update – October 2015

Date: 11 October 2015

Tree leaves are turning shades of red, orange & gold and there’s a definite chill to the air these days, especially in the early mornings. Yes, it’s safe to say that autumn is in full swing, but as we head towards shorter days and the passing of the season we’re also looking ahead to another, with our focus fully on spring. Iris, Paeony, and Spring bulb potting is in order this month, which is doubly handy for us, not only are we on track to bring you some outstanding plants in the new year, but all that compost shovelling and barrow wheeling gets the blood pumping and helps keep that seasonal chill at bay. We’ve got some fantastic new varieties in, including Allium Summer Drummer, Paeony Pink Hawaiian Coral and Iris Benton Caramel. So be sure to keep your eyes peeled for those in our new catalogue which shall make an appearance before the year is out.

17th October sees our monthly potting day come around again. Willing volunteers have a treat this month as harvest time is here, lunch will be homemade butternut squash soup, bread and fruit cake using apples from our orchard.

We’d like to welcome Linda to the Prenplants team, she started at the end of September as our accounts assistant, so if you haven’t paid us you’ll be getting a call!
