This week we have had a work experience student here and it is great to see how they view the nursery. We gave him a working title of February on the Nursery so this is Prenplants through his eyes!! It also helps that he is also doing photography A level!!
This is his blog!
The first image is of a Hellebore. These flower in February and are looking amazing at the moment.
This is Ipheion Charlotte Bishop. It is a Spring flowering bulb which produces these lovely pink flowers.

One of the jobs they are doing during February on the nursery is potting the bare root perennials. Potting is an enjoyable activity and I learnt lots about plants during the process. Some of the plants were easier to pot as they are obvious which way the roots are but others not so much! When we have potted a batch of plants we load them into a wheelbarrow and take them out to the bed. They all have to go down in lines.

Nursery Propagation
Another job undertaken was producing cutting material. It is quite technical but with the right guidance they were successfully taken. The hardest part was trying to keep them all the same size.
Also this week, we have been doing some seed sowing. This required concentration and no distractions. It was a good job that Cagney the Cat didn’t come to help as she is a massive distraction! Obviously, this picture is some that were sown earlier but I hope mine look like this is a couple of weeks!!

This is one of the examples of the many amazing plants that can be found at Prenplants! It is Primula Lilac Lace. I like the way the photo shows all the individual flowers which make up the whole flower head.
My week here at Prenplants has been good and I have learnt lots of new things. The best thing I have done is potting the plants as it is quite relaxing. All photos were taken by me.
